Health tourism has grown rapidly worldwide over the past 10 years. The number of people traveling solely for medical tourism has exceeded 10 million, generating an annual turnover of USD 100 billion. Although the number of travelers in thermal tourism, medical SPA, elderly and disabled tourism and the turnover in this field are not exactly known, it is predicted to be much higher than in medical tourism.
Diversification of the tourism sector and spreading it over 12 months is a necessity in tourism countries such as Turkey. The tourism sector is a very important service sector in terms of spreading over 12 months and creating employment. Health tourism is a commercial issue and occupies a very important place in the economies of countries. The top 5 countries in the world in terms of the number of international patients are the USA, Germany, Thailand, India, and Turkey.

Tendered by our Ministry under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model as the “İstanbul İkitelli Integrated Health Campus Construction Works and Provision of Products and Services” project, Başakşehir City Hospital is built on a 789,031 m² plot of land, has a closed area of 1,021,265 m², and has a total floor area of 145, 000 m² of floor space, 159,741 m² of green space, and 12,101 m² of gravel area, totaling 171,842 m² of landscaped area. It consists of 10 blocks with 2,068 seismic isolators and 3 heliport areas.
Our hospital has 10 Level 1, 144 Level 2, and 302 Level 3 It has a total capacity of 2,682 beds, including 456 intensive care beds, 1,174 single beds (24 VIP, 18 Sultan Suites, 80 Suites, 27 LDRP, and 1 Water Birth), and 464 double beds.
Our hospital has:
• A total of 982 outpatient clinics, including 725 outpatient clinics and 257 support rooms.
• A total of 90 operating rooms, including 3 hybrid operating rooms, 22 day operating rooms, and 1 emergency operating room.
• A total parking capacity of 8,134 vehicles, including 1,713 open spaces and 6,421 covered spaces.
Our hospital has 2 conference halls with a total capacity of 654 people, with 308 and 346 seats respectively.
Our hospital has pediatric, adult, and obstetrics emergency departments within a total enclosed area of 30,000 square meters. It has modern diagnostic and treatment units capable of serving a minimum of 7,000 patients daily. Our emergency departments have a total of 226 rooms, including negative pressure rooms and observation areas where emergency intensive care conditions can be provided when necessary.
Our hospital has 725 outpatient rooms and 90 operating tables. At full capacity, it is planned to receive 35,000 outpatients and perform 500 specialized surgeries daily.

TomoTherapy Radixact, a cutting-edge technology in the fight against cancer, is the only device that combines "pinpoint" and "cross-sectional irradiation" techniques, combining radiation therapy and 3D Computed Tomography within the same system. The system incorporates cutting-edge technological innovations and artificial intelligence. Using the "helical tomotherapy treatment" technique, named after the device, it targets cancer cells and can deliver personalized radiation treatments for each patient. This provides positive benefits such as improved patient survival, improved quality of life, and extended life. The Tomotherapy Radixact system is the most advanced and technologically advanced system in the field of radiotherapy and is available at Başakşehir City Hospital. Xoft Intraoperative Radiotherapy (IORT) technology is being used for the first time in a city hospital. The IORT system provides interventional radiation therapy while the patient is under anesthesia during surgery. It is a highly effective and cosmetically preferred treatment method, especially for young and early-stage cancers, and is planned for use at our hospital.
