Health tourism refers to individuals traveling from their place of residence to another country to take advantage of health and tourism opportunities for the purpose of maintaining or improving their health or treating illnesses. A person traveling for this purpose is called a health tourist. In the past, this term generally referred to visits from less developed countries to health centers in developed countries, but today, international patient mobility has begun to shift. Health tourists from developed countries are also traveling to other countries for reasons such as affordable prices and alternative treatment options.
